As I enter my 23rd year as a licensed aesthetician, and many years as a patient educator and author; it is with great honor that I’ve been able to serve with compassionate doctors, brilliant clinicians and associates, and of course, you my wonderful clients and patients.

The skin care industry is well into the twenty-first century and science has provided us with technological advances that just fifteen years ago, we could not have predicted. We now all take for granted simple things like moisturizers containing exfoliants for smoothing skin, Botox® for relaxing a furrowed brow, and sunscreens with micronized zinc oxide (not so pasty-looking) for UV protection, but more generally... products that truly do make a difference in how our skin behaves.

We continue to see exponential growth in the non-invasive procedures such as in laser and light-based therapies that benefit those with rosacea, unwanted hair growth, and photodamaged skin.

Conversely, we have found that some of the new technology has left some bad impressions on us as well. That is, equipment that has over promised and not delivered. Many of us seasoned professionals have adopted a sound “wait and see” approach with those modalities that seem too good to be true. It does not benefit any of us to use expensive devices, when for example; a well applied peel with RX grade home care products would do more for the skin.
